As you can imagine, costs vary because what people want in a cellar varies.  In general, as an example, custom racking made of fingerjointed Cedar will cost between $7 and $11 per bottle of storage capacity (that's for a custom designed racking system installed).

If you need the cellar room itself built, as an example, a complete 8'x8' wine cellar in the corner of a basement, with a self-contained cooling unit, racking on three walls, slate flooring, and an insulated door would cost approximately $16,000, including all the steps listed on our "Steps of Construction" page.

Of course, different choices could add or subtract to or from the cost.
